Hey ladies and gents, seeking a little help though I know this is a long shot. Growing up my mom had a a 68 GTO. White convertible with blue interior, I remember it well. I remember cruising all over in that car as kid but unfortunately my parents sold it shortly after moving into a new house. This car spent its life in Northwest Ohio (Findlay area) and it’s new owner was in the same region. The car was sold by my family somewhere around 1993-1995. I have of course been down every avenue possible that I can think of (since I naturally don’t have the VIN) from searching the license plate, to reaching out to the insurance company, bank, and DMV. Unfortunately I’ve always came up short. I thought maybe just MAYBE by some stroke of luck someone in this group may know of a car meeting this description in that general area of Ohio. Thank you in advance!

Good luck. It's a crap shoot if the car still exists. The mid 90s was right where these cars started to go up in value. I had a few friends wreck these types of cars in high school during that era. Figure at the time it was a choice between a 4 year old Corolla or a 68 Cougar.

You can reach out to other forums like PY or the HAMB, etc. It survived to 1993, so was already a survivor and a special car. In my experience out on the West Coast, the value of these cars started to climb in the mid-late 1980's and people were no longer junking them with impunity. They were being saved. So what I'm saying is that your car was a GTO, and a convertible, so you can bet it's still around unless it was wrecked hard.

I tried doing the same with my 69 Camaro I had in my early 20's. I even have the VIN. However, I had no luck and the guys on the Camaro forums were not very welcoming when I made a similar post there. One guy was kind enough to point me to an interesting story about how the owner of Papa John's even offered a $250,000 reward to help him find his 1971 Camaro. It turns out it was only about 165 miles away from company headquarters and he got it back. I'm thinking you or I probably don't have the financing to fund such a recovery. Best of luck in your search though!!!

Nice to hear from you again system, where you been? How's the car?

Car has been tucked in the back of the barn til spring where she still slumbers... I was thinking of pulling her forward and rearranging the toys for spring but then we got 30" of snow last week... Ugh... Soon... :)
