Hi everyone. Over the last few years I have tried several different avenues trying to locate my dad's first car a 1965 GTO he owned when he was 16. I don't have the VIN number or plates. I've tried calling and writing the state in which he live (which was Indiana). I've contacted local clubs to see if maybe someone had seen that car around. I've called PI to see if they could be any help. Tried to call the dealer where the car was purchased. All have been dead ends.

Any advice on what to do next with either locating the car or just finding out what his VIN number was?

What I know about the car is as follows.
1965 GTO 3 speed manual. Dark Blue. Convertible.
Had a 4-barrel carb but he traded a friend for 3x2 setup.

Thanks

John

Without a VIN you'll never be able to identify the car, even if you think you found it. There were over 11,000 convertibles built in '65, the majority of which were manual tranny cars. A lot of the 3-speed cars were converted to 4-speeds, and blue was a popular color that year. A lot of 4-barrel cars have tripowers on them, so there will be hundreds of GTOs fitting the desciption. Your first task needs to be to find the VIN number, and the only source for this will be old registration records that you or your dad may have. Without the VIN, you don't stand much of a chance...
