You may want to post your location. It's possible that someone could be close to you and help. Are you trying an initial start up, need help with interior, what? Paint looks good, great color, share why you're in over your head and we may be able to talk you through this, or down off the cliff. What's up?

Live close to Ruble rd and Hogan. Northeast corner of Dearborn County. Painted but needs wet sanding and buffing. Installed new headliner , myself , due to body shop spraying compound thru open windows. Installed new dash with wood grain. All new wiring harnesses. Engine turns over but needs timing and basically looked over. Needs distributor set “ top dead center ? “. I’m overwhelmed. I’m dyslexic. So “ here read this “ is not a great answer for me. I can installed and do anything. If I’m shown Or pictures. I’m on the cliff. Not fun anymore. Got screwed and I’m trying finished. I need help getting it completed. I’m so close. But I have no help. I did Auto glass for years. At cars shows. Installing glass in classics. But I’m lost when it comes to engines and electrical. This is the most I’ve wrote ever.

So you're in Indiana? Not close for me, but maybe for another forum member.

Top dead center is used to get the dizzy close for timing. Basically, you turn the engine over so that the engine is at TDC which should be the zero mark on the damper (compression stroke). Install distributer and wires. Rotor will be pointing right at #1. You pick which wire is #1 based on where the rotor is pointing and make sure the rest are in the correct order. Advance the dizzy a little and it should fire.

Is the engine a fresh rebuild? If so, the start up procedure may need to include a cam break in step.

. . . I don’t like asking for help. I'm trying to finish this . . .
You already asked for help, and now you are telling us what your car needs one step at a time.
First, set up your area around the car with a small bench, your tools, and a storage area. That is your work area. Next you will find top dead center TDC. Keep the battery connected but remove and mark the small wires to the coil.

Disconnect the spark plug wires at the spark plugs and mark them so they don't get mixed up. You can confirm later if they are correct. Then remove the spark plugs and poke them into a piece of cardboard so they don't get mixed up. Keep your area clean and let others know that is where you are working on the car.

Check in when done, or if you have questions.

Thanks. Spark plug wires are on the wrong plugs. He put the shorts one in front and long in back. That’s what I’m dealing with. I have to back over everything he did or should I say didn’t do Right It’s morning. So it’s a new day. Trying to get started.
