I just got a TVS 1900 super charger installed along with a new performance clutch kit, and a new one piece drive shaft. Very happy with it. However, the traction control on the car has been behaving very erratic after the work was done. It randomly disables itself. While not a huge issue, I'd still like it to be fixed. The installer seems doubtful that anything they did could have affected it, but offered to take a look at it. Before I take it back to them, I Wanted to see if anyone on the forum had any thoughts or an idea on what could have been done that would be causing this.

I did do some searching through google, but I guess I should have searched the forum itself as well. A couple threads say this issue is likely with a dirty MAF sensor or the MAF sensor needs to be replaced.

I'll try that but if anyone else has anything else to add I'd be glad for your input.

The traction control system likely uses the amount of air coming into the engine via the MAF to gauge how much to close the throttle when limiting the torque. No signal or a bad signal from the MAF would affect the traction control in that it wouldn't be able to properly gauge the amount of air coming in, so the system disables itself and the light comes on. I'm just guessing based on experience with other cars, but seeing that throttle control is part of the traction conrol system, I'm thinking that the GTO would be similar.

That's about what I think. I just know I diagnosed a lot of those with people having troubles after putting on my intake.

I had a traction control issue with my stock GTO. I don't know if you are having the same symptoms as I did. I would be driving along just fine. Then the car would loose horsepower and seem to almost bog down. It would do this at random and mostly when I was cruising along at a steady speed.

Took it to the dealer (Lucas Chevrolet) They spent 3 hours trying to find out what was the problem. finally found that there was a defective board in the traction control/ABS system that was throwing ghost codes. The codes would not even show up on a reader. They sent the bad unit back to the manufacturer and got a replacement.

Turns out this was a problem that occured rarely and had only been reported in the C6 vettes of that year.
