I think you mean M6 and A4. It's not a code of any kind, just manual 6 speed and automatic 4 speed. aka T-56 and 4l60e/4l65e.

Where'd you hear A12? No such thing exists.

I will take a pic and post it if you will be willing to take a look. but it says m12 on the badge it may mean something else but it is stamped in a dot matrix style under the hood on the right side on the core support just above the head light..
check tomorrowe I will have to get back to the house and get the camera out so you can see what I am talking about.

M12 is the transmission code for the 6 speed manual we have. The 2001-2004 Corvette Z06 had the M12 6-speed, and the standard C5 Corvette had the M6 6-speed transmission. So yes, our cars have the Z06 transmission. Everyone calls it an M6, because its a 6-speed. I'm sure the others will correct me if I'm wrong.

You are correct, Sir!!!
I believe the M12 is now the standard box for the C6 Coupes and Verts too.

Well this at least explains the "M12" one of our forum members has in his signature (I think it's S2Gordon--someone with a MBM GTO).

I've always wondered what that meant, but wasn't curious enough to ask
