I have an 06 m6 with some crappy K&N CAI....

The Stang....

I was on the interstate cruising at around 66mph or so when i see this blue mustang start gaining on my right side. Its about 10pm at night and the freeway was for the most part empty. The stang gets even with me then matches my speed... no tint on the stang so i can see that the driver is looking at me. About 2 seconds later he is at WOT and i'm still in 6th gear, so i down shift to 3rd and he is about 2 cars ahead of me. I matted the gas and started to chase him at around 80 i was with him again and by 100 i was 2 car lengths and getting further i shut down at around 120, but of course he doesnt and flies right past me as i'm scrubbing off speed. At this point i've owned the car for about a week, feeling really good about my purchase.

The STI....

This is my friends car, i used to be a subie bro, He is putting down 310 awhp and 330 awtq, a pretty fast car. We talked about a race earlier that day, a dig to 100mph. This time we are on a side street at about 2am. I was taking one of my other friends for a ride and my friend with the STI decides to bring his car, we both know its on. So we line up at a stoplight. As we sit at the light i can hear his launch control start going. The light turns green and i dump the clutch at about 3k and i start spinning the tires a bit, he just hooks and goes. He has 3 car lengths on me as we get to 40, i close the gap to 2 car lengths by 70-80mph and i get to his quarter pannel when we hit 100mph. I thought i was gonna do alot worse, i've driven his car before and its fast.

You probably would have beat the sit if you would have hooked up rather than spinning. I would have tried launching around 22-2400 rpm rather than 3000. I have an auto and when I do a break stand I launch around 1900 rpm and I get a very few chirps and I lock and go.

The best thing to do with the auto is barely load it up maybe 800-900 rpm right when the rear starts to squat and launch from there. When you load it up too much the rear wants to pop up when you take off and you lose traction.

3k is actually a good rpm to launch at, i just have traction issues and i probably shouldnt have dumped the clutch and slipped it a bit. I'm going to attempt to put some 285-295s on the rears that should help.
