My 65-trunk restoration thread

Can someone tell me if the Ames Spare Tire Anchor bracket (part# K133K) is installed as the picture shows on the Ames Part link with the rounded arched piece going north to south? There is a little raised hump in the center of the trunk floor pan where the bracket goes, I am guessing it runs in the same direction as the bracket.

Or does the Spare Tire Anchor bracket go east to west, I didn't get a before picture of it prior to the trunk pan being replaced.

I guess that settles that, as always you guys are most helpful.

GTOJUNIOR is how you have the blue painted jack parts accurate to only your year car, or is that standard to 64-67s?

The OE blue differed slightly but the consensus is that the FORD V8 Blue is expectable.
With some variations depending on the home plant where your Pontiac was built.

So only the jack base and jack mechanism get painted blue?
As mentioned, it depended on the assembly plant

Fremont seemed to have a different supplier for the bases.
For most years I've seen they had a black base.

The Jack Handle / Lug Wrench was a Robbins Egg Blue on most of the years regardless,
However, I have seen a few finished in Ford Blue, Grey, and/or Black.
I chose black for the first pic above.

I found this Krylon to be a good match.
I only sprayed the tip of this OE wrench with factory paint and you can see how close it is.

Interesting, my 65 is also from the Freemont assembly plant. I also noticed your Spare Tire Anchor bracket in your trunk goes side to side as opposed to the other two pics showing it going front to back of the car.

Maybe I will also paint the jack base black, i do think that Satin Lagoon blue is almost an exact match.

Hmmm, looks like it could have been done either way. My thought is that it would be easier if it ran front to back as this would allow the J-bolt to pivot to the left as one would remove the spare. Seems like there would be more room to lift and slide the tire to the left, letting the J-bolt pivot and drop, as apposed to sliding forward or back. Probably a minimal difference either way.

Pontiac Blue and Old Ford Blue, seeing cars out of the Freemont plant used various combinations of paint, I went with what I wanted for the final look, which won't be seen under the tire cover, haha

Here's how my jack came out. The paint is part number K130A from Ames. It's "Duplicolor Engine Enamel with Ceramic."
