Got my new issue of High Performance Pontiac in the mail yesterday. There is a new aftermarket company in the 5th gen Trans Am race called Gearhead Street Customs (GSC) and they have in my opinion the best interpretation of the new Bird. The ASC, Phoenix TA, and Lingenfelter TA's all looked good, but I think this GSC one does the old bird the most justice.

Buy the October 2010 issue or go to their website and see for yourself. From what I got out of the article, you can get it with just the exterior and interior mods with the stock 426hp motor, can get a maggy making 546 hp, a rear mounted turbo up to 700 hp, or a twin turbo setup putting out 900 hp. Prices start at $54,900.

This was the first article I've seen where they actually drive the car around town and take it to the strip/road course to see how it performed. Every other article I've read just had the cars sitting there with photographers doing their thing.

Honest truth, none. I was a huge F-body fan, love them knew alot about them. I'm just not a big fan of retro, sorry I think we should just move foward. I like the new Camaro somewhat, but it just don't make me wanting to have one. My wife and mom love it.

The only car that I do like is the Year One T/A, thats because it was an old car that was modernized.

I like it better then the Camaro, but for that price I'm nowhere near interested.

I forgot about the Year One TA. That was badass. Have you seen the Jim Wagner's Signature Edition GTO that they are bringing back out?

I can't find it on the High Perfornace Pontiac website right now (at work) but I did find the computer drawings. They already built this car. The article had the actual car, not cheesy computer drawings, but the car is identical to these renderings. It is a restomod, everything on the car brand new. The engine is not a supercharged LS motor like everybody seems to be doing on retro cars but rather is a huge cubic inch Butler Performance Pontiac engine (fuel injected, no no to the carbs) putting out like 600 or 700 naturally aspirated hp. Pricing starts north of 100,000 depending on options, goes up from there. If I find actual pics I'll post them.

Wangers Special Edition http://blogs.insideline.com/straightline/2009/10/1969-pontiac-gto-judge-jim-wangers-edition.html : last word I had was Big 3 Performance, the outfit that is building this car is caput. Here is the link> Untitled Document
This project failed. From what I gather, only one car was built 2 or 3 I think were in the process of being built when production stopped they remain unfinished. I think there is a test vehicle as well but not sure. Jim is looking for an outfit to take over this project. The price of this car was as told well over 200K. I plan on asking Jim about the future of this car when I see him in August.

Milt Schornack is taking orders for his Bobcat package installation on your platform. What this is: You supply him the car and chassis in good shape they will install the drive train. All the bells and whistles of today's technology. The car will be a driver you can take anywhere. Cost: About 40K. Milt has a 1966 he takes to events to promote. Link > MiltSchornack.com

I recently spent the weekend with Milt when he was in the area and talked with his mechanic and he and I tried in vane to get him to donate his '66 to SVGTO and we would promote it and I would store it in my Goat cove. He said OK!! but I never got the keys :( :( Maybe he didn't think I was serious?

Jason Scott from Pontiac Enthusiast Magazine had both T/A's at Carlisle. Personally I would take the Lingfelter Lingenfelter Trans Am Concept: There Goes The Neighborhood
over this one > 2011 Pontiac Trans Am - Trans Am Depot Shows How GM Should Have Built It - Hot Rod Magazine

Lingfleter more resembles a T/A. The black one is clearly a camaro with the T/A badging. I was NOT impressed. Looks ok but at over 80K .......Naaaaaaaa Even the insides of the car says Camaro. IMO.. Not enough work was done to distance the look from a Camaro. Although My wife loves it, and wants one there is too much resemblance to Camaro. I don't much care for the new Camaro and I think they failed to bring a distinct T/A resemblance to the car. Performance yea but when looking at the car head on, its a camaro.

If these outfits were serious about marketing these cars, they wouldn't be making the cost of them prohibitive for most. These are built for those with a deep bank accounts and placing in garages not on the road where they belong. These are tease you to death cars 99% of people will never own.
