I have a '71 Lemans. I really like the looks of the 69 and 70 GTO front clip and hoods. If I was to do a swap yet leave my Lemans badges would people still look at this as a clone? My other thought was to have someone fabricate the hood scoops for my existing hood.

Who cares what anyone else thinks? If it's a look you like, and you're not doing it to try to deceive anyone, then go for it.

Be aware that deviation from "original" will have a negative affect on the car's value, but again --- if it's something you're doing for yourself and you don't care about trying to preserve what the car might be worth in someone else's eyes, then what does that matter?

There are clones advertised for sale all the time and I don't think anyone thinks poorly of the seller as long as it is expressed as to what it really is. So, no big deal. I agree with what Bear says about what ever makes you like your vehicle. Now, as far as modifying your existing hood... why not just buy a GTO hood? I think it would cost less than the fabrication. The GTO hood will not fit without the front clip. They are different from the LeMans.

....but not the '71 which OP states he has.

OP, the 71 is a cool car in it's own right and I say do what you want but you would be money and time ahead to find the car you really want. :cheers

I think it might be a better idea to add the GTO scoops to my hood. I love the way the '71 LeMans looks, but I want the GTO scoops. That way it would be original with a little custom flair. I had a '71 LeMans as my first car. That is a major part of why I got this one.

One of the nice things about having a LeMans/Tempest is you can do mods on it without effecting the value as much as a GTO. Bad thing is the parts will cost the same as a GTO. That being said i had two offers this year for my Tempest both well above what i have seen them sell for so at least two people really like my subtle customizing. I built the car to please me and don't plan on ever selling it, built to drive and it's worth every penny. I love the 71' gto hood treatment.

Looks like VFN offers fiberglass hoods and fenders for the 71-72 GTO.

Tamraz on Ebay has the front bumper in fiberglass-

but it looks like they don't have the fenders or a one piece front available.

And know too that if you are still considering the 68-69 front end conversion the body lines are completely different as the earlier cars do not have the strong vertical body line over the wheels as the 71 and 72 cars do.

While I was searching for parts I thought maybe you'd be best to find a complete GTO to start with and I came across this poor beast. What a shame to see such a rusty GTO.
