I think months of hot Arizona weather and sweaty palms have done in my steering wheel. There's a patch that's peeling like a sunburned shoulder in the area where my right palm would go. I treated it with some Meguiar's stuff last night and made it look a little better, but I'm afraid I'll have to swap it out under warranty for a new wheel.

Hey, I wonder if the '06 wheel with backlit controls will work on an '05?

Yeah, I didn't figure a free upgrade would be easy. Just speculation on my part. Honestly, all I want is a steering wheel with non-peeling leather.

Arizona is tough on leather-wrapped steering wheels. I had an '86 Vette I bought new, and I absolutely ruined the wheel. After a couple years, it looked like it had been etched by acid. The wheel on my '94 Camaro survived six years of use, and the wheel on my '01 Vette held up okay, too. But this one on the GTO isn't doing so well.

that blows.... all those excellent cars!
Ha ha. See, this is all part of my elaborate, years-in-the-making plot to avoid the appearance of a mid-life crisis: Establish a track record of buying one hot car after another during your youth, and then nobody will think it's weird when you're into your 40s and come tearing into the parking lot at work in a 400-horsepower beastie!

Guys in mid-life crisis don't buy 2-door sedans.
They buy 2-seat sports cars. Red ones....

Now you know the real reason why no one has accused you of a MLC.....

Sorry, dude. 06 wheel will not work. The 06 uses a steering wheel coil module that has an extra circuit running to the interior dimmer circuit. :(

Just a thought. I've finally learned how to find all the buttons in the dark anyway.

I e-mailed the service guy at my dealer, and he tells me I need to come by and let the service director see the wheel before they'll order one for me. Her name is Bambi. How cool is it that my Pontiac dealer's service director is named Bambi?

I may know her.
Ask her if she's from Elk Falls.
Seriously? Small world. I believe her last name is "Shambaugh." Very nice woman, very professional, and super knowledgeable about cars. She's the service director at Henry Brown Buick-Pontiac-GMC in Mesa, Arizona.

OH, I thought you meant street name as in what people call me on the street.

THEN it would be Mike Beryl. Even THAT sounds worse.......
