Hi once again awesome folks!
getting ready to do my mains and crank and wondering when pg comes into play.
>> After i lube & assemble everything and torque them down.........then remove one cap at a time, clean the mating surfaces and use the pg?
is this the way o wise ones?

You put the plasti gauge in dry on the dry crank, torque the mains or rods then disassemble and check the plasti gauge for thickness. Do not use oil or lube on the crank.

Oh, and dont rotate the crank when you have the plasti gauge in there, just torque it to specs and then remove the rod cap or main carefully, then measure it on the crank. Do ONE at a time.

Like tiger said, bone dry, one at a time, and do NOT rotate the crank until you scrape all the plastigage off the journal, re-torque the cap, and move on to the next. After it's all together, you can squirt engine oil onto the journals around the bearings and rotate by hand a few times to work it in. When you go to start it up, crank it with the coil wire off until the oil light goes off before you fire it up to build oil pressure to the bearings. You'll be ok.
