Just Curious , Out of the many Pontiac engine size/other emblems avail out there, Did Any of these ever actually come with GTOs? What years? Or was it only Lemans or Tempests ? Are they put On fenders or on the trunk lid only? Any pics avail of any installed would be cool,
Thx

1967 Lemans had the 326 callout on the fender
1969 GP had the 428 callout attached to the grille
1969 Firebird had the 400 on the trunk lid when you ordered the package
never remember any GTO having those types of emblems

As stated, the GTO had the die cast "triangle" emblem on the fender having 6.5 liter up to 1968. 1970 - 1973 used a decal specific to the year and engine option.

The Tempest/Lemans used a die cast fender emblem on the earlier years and a rocker panel emblem to denote the engine size. The 400 was an optional engine in the Tempest/Lemans so you would see "400" instead of the typical "350" base engine emblem. Big cars had a small emblem in the grille as well as on the fender - just all depends on the year and engine size.

No GTO had an engine size such as "389", "400", or "455". The Firebird 400 had the "400" on the hood scoops and I have seen these added to the GTO hood.

Thanks to all those highly knowledgeable
Forum Members above, for replying and clearing up some of the whens and wheres and the facts about if these engine call-outs were actually used or Not.

I sense most here would concur that adding some of these things to a GTO / Lemans Tempest later in its game, would be akin to adding a ZIT to the Mona Lisa!

Original creations seem to always remain the best in life (cars, movies, books, art,
car-parts ,people, etc. )
The GTO to this day and always will,
retainits original ground breaking Legacy.
Hope all are staying well here, take care when you can, this World today can NOT afford to lose ANY part of this wonderful place.Thx
