. Automotive News reports that, with the goal of making the brand General Motors' performance division, Pontiac executives are considering dropping all trucks and front-wheel-drive cars from their future lineup. With Canadians never receiving the latest iteration of the rear-drive GTO, and beyond the new Solstice roadster, say bye-bye over the course of a five-year plan to the Wave, Vibe, G5 Pursuit, G6, Torrent (which might be rebadged as a GMC) and Montana SV6.
The exclusive rear-drive lineup would include a new Grand Prix in 2008, of which a concept will be shown at the 2007 Detroit auto show.
Allegedly, this rear-drive concept will act as a design halo car and will subsequently foster a new GTO (which will go on a production hiatus for a few years) and will be based on the as-yet-to-be-confirmed Chevrolet Camaro seen last January in Detroit as a concept.
