His book is still available to buy online. If you call him he’ll usually take the time to talk to you about what your carb will need and will send you the proper rebuild kit for your application (don’t use the generics from the auto part stores, their junk) There are also loads of videos online detailing the rebuilding of these carbs. Coupled with his book you should have no problem dialing it in yourself. Good luck!

I am a 10 month new owner (2nd owner ever) of a 68 GTO convertible. Owner deceased, car came with a 10-year old "frankenmotor" 455 in great internal shape. Car sat 5 years and needed a lot of external systems work. Carb was shot and likely from the 1st 400 motor (which I also received).

So I have a learned a lot here and this is my first post and time to pay it forward - for my carb a nearby old GM/race engine mechanic recommended I go with a rebuilt Rochester built to my motors vacuum specs. Engine has a mid agressive cam, Torker 1 manifold. Stock exhaust manifolds. He recommended the firm below and Sean built a new 800 CFM Rochester modified to my motor. I could not be happier! The power pull is incredible and he was GREAT to work with. Check him out and his background, he is very good. He did not want my core back, just sold me a new build up. I am not into a points car, or every sub part being 1968 original. I want a solid, fun, driver, which I now have. More on that and other lessons in a future post.

Hi. I have '68 GTO convertible with a 400 running a Rochester Quadrajet carb. I had it rebuilt last fall by The CarbShop LLC (what else would it be called?) here in Greenville, South Carolina. The guy's name is Eric Morris, phone 864-292-3692. He has been rebuilding carbs since he was 10, and he's about 50 now. No joke, his father built race cars and he has old home movies of himself working on the carb bench when he was a kid. His shop is LOADED with all types of carburetors and parts, and he knows his stuff. I seem to remember it cost around $225 - $250 to get it done but the car runs perfectly now. Obviously you would have to ship it to him but if you don't find anyone local I would suggest giving him a call.
