Recently I had a set of aftermarket ralley gauges installed in my 69 GTO base model. The gauges replaced non-functioning warning lights. The gauges were new and given to me and installed as a present. The gauges don't work and can not be returned nor can I return to the point of installation for a cure. I am not sure if the gauges which were installed were direct replacement for ralley gauges or if they were a replacement/supplement for the warning lights, i.e., there are 2 varieties offered by the vender one as a direct replacement and one as a supplement. Other than removing the dash and purchasing and installing a different set of gauges does anyone have a solution to get the gauges to work? None of the needles on the gauges as showing.

Were the sending units changed from idiot light style? Original rally gauge equipped '60's/70's GM's used their own sending units. Upgrading to factory rally gauges, the oil & water sending units have to be swapped out. Original style mitered end dated oil sending units are expensive. Most sources over the last 40 years have sold the mid 70's-87 style oil sending unit. it to be a common salvage yard part, i used to pull them off '79 403 TransAms in the pick-n-pulls as the oil sending units are up top in front & easy to pull. I would bet the PartsPlace repo rally gauges require the rally gauge sending units, as well, something you could ck with them.

What PH said about needing to also replace the sending units (both temp and oil pressure). ALSO, that printed circuit board that's on the back side of the instrument cluster? That has to be changed out as well. The one for lights is different than the one for gauges.
