Took my goat out after 12 years and the valve covers leak, bought new ones today and can remember.... Do you use gasket sealer on them ? Thanks so much

It can be optional. It would not hurt to put a little on the valve cover side to keep the gasket in place. Make sure you flatten out the bolt through holes on the valve cover if they have been over tightened. If they are dimpled down, they will not clamp the gasket well enough and you will have leaks.

What Jim said. Be sure to peen the cover rails straight. I always use a couple of dabs of grease to hold the gasket to the valve cover. I hate removing sealer from those old covers. I usually install mine with a nut driver or a 1/4" drive short ratchet. Just snug. Re-torque them after a couple of weeks.
