I just happened to have a SWEET set of GM 68 336 gears
from a 68 gto rear diff ... 44000 mile originals that are very nice

Yeah, 8.2 BOP gears are available from Summit, Jegs, most all the online rear end shops, Ebay sellers, and many other places.

And, like most other parts, there are different brands, with varying prices. One of the higher priced brands that have had a good rep for many years is the Richmond brand.

This Ebay seller has the cheapest rear end parts I've seen online. I assume these cheap parts are all made in China. Not saying they're good or bad, just posting that they are a source for 8.2 BOP rear end parts.

In my experience, the original GM gears can't be beat for quality and quiet running. I'd be inclined to install an original used set of gears, if they were in excellent shape. My 2 cents....

I just purchased Yukon Gear part number YG GMBOP-336 gear set from Summit, for my 67 GTO. I chose this one because in the question & answers in the listing it said made in USA. Got the product and the box says made in China. Also, the ratio is 44:13 (3.38), unlike the original GM gears which are 37:11 (3.36).
