Hi,

just got an info about a wrecked 05 LS2 GTO ... seems like a good deal, though I will have to check out the extent of the damage ... first, I thought about swapping motor and tranny into my 98 Camaro, but from what I have been told to date, it's mainly body damage ... preliminary pics seem to confirm that ...

Anyway, it looks like I would need a couple spare parts, like rear bumper, right tail light, rear quarter panel, maybe a door panel, possibly the fender ... can't tell yet whether the hood is salvagable or not ... anyway: what's a good place to get parts? Problem is: needs to ship to APO, as I'm not in the U.S. ... ;)

Also, is there a tech manual and/or part number manual available for download somewhere?

Thanks!

Well, looks like I would need at least:

  • right fender
  • front fascia/spoiler/bumper
  • right door panel
  • right quarter panel
  • back bumper
  • lower part of the trunk lid
  • possibly a hood, not sure yet
  • dunno about the trunk interior, the rear right corner is pushed in pretty badly ...
  • right headlight and taillight
  • a new paint job obviously ;)

The front wheel is slightly misaligned, recon he had turned it trying to save the car and it hit the guard rail.

Apart from that, the car looks nice ;)

As for the parts transportation, I might luck out as one of the folks I know is PCSing his stuff from the states and has about 13000 pounds of weight left in his container from his alotted amount ... any idea what the above part lists would probably run? Also, any suggestion in aftermarket replacements for front and rear bumper or hood instead of the OEM parts?

Taking into consideration the fact that the entire side and deck lid are done, possible suspension damage and maybe suspension cradle damage, hood is gone along with frt cover.....this sounds like a possible total loss. Parts are astronomical for this vehicle:
Hdlmp..........301.00
Hood...........882.00
fender.........325.00
Door skin......253.00
Qtr. ..........554.00
Lid...............421.00
Rear Cover....373.00
Frt Cover......434.00
Suspension and cradle ...(open)
These are list prices and do not include labor , naturally. Was this car totalled by an Ins. Co. already, if so, there is a reason it was.

Well, the side is damaged, but only the middle third of the door panel (from front to rear), the car slid into a guard rail and then turned out taking the rear right out. No damage to neither wheel/tire nor the right mirror ... Hood only has a small bend and cracked paint where the fender was pushed in, so it might be fixable w/o getting a replacement. Main damage is the quarter panel, the right back corner was pushed in pretty far ... I'm getting the report from/for the insurance tomorrow with a list of damages that the repair price was based on, but from what I could see w/o a lift the frame should not have been damaged .... I guess once I have that in hands, I should be able to decide what I want to do ...

Just talked to the owner, he even has the stock rear bumper and front fascia as well as the stock exhaust (right side was missing from the center back, dunno if it's still somewhere), so that would reduce the price a bit ...

Insurance totaled it, but please take into account that the car is in Germany, inspected by a german "specialist" who used prices that a german GM/Opel place would charge for replacement parts and labor ... One guy I know once had a wreck in a BMW Z1, insurance guy set the repair price at (converted) $15000 - it only took about $2000 in parts and labor to get it in perfect condition again ... so much about insurance experts ...
