Guys,

Anyone out there have a GM Pontiac original parts catalog ?

Requesting original GM Part Numbers for '68 GTO Harmonic Balancer & Pulleys.

Nothing in GTO Resto manual, or the Factory Service manual

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks so much.

From the 68 Parts Book
Part number for the Harmonic Balancer - 9790839

Pulleys would depend on which options you would have on the car.
There were at least three different sets for A/C with PS, Power Steering without A/C and no Power Steering or A/C (Std)
There was also A/C without PS (listed in diagram below)

Water Pump
Std - 9790946
PS - 9786819
AC/PS - 9788886

Crankshaft
Std - 9790947
PS - 9790846
AC/PS - 9790842 Double groove and 9790843 single groove

Power Steering
PS - 9786900
AC/PS - 9786901

Alternator
All Applications - 1949357

Thanks Guys,

My old Goat motor set up will be w/Power Steering, but no A/C.

Other pulley drives the Alternator.

Now to look info over to see exactly what I need.

Appreciate all the info & assist.

Guys,

Now I'm trying to figure out if there is a difference, and what it is between the Standard, and RAM Air Harmonic Balancers ?

Standard P/N 477682

RAM Air P/N 9794058

Any one know about this?

Any info would be appreciated.

Let me know.

Thanks,

I was thinking..... what could be different?

Other than a P/N & a price....

Beats me....?

A Balancer, is a Balancer, is a Balancer.... right ?

Thanks,

My July '68 parts book list two different numbers for Ram Air engines. They may be designating RA1 and RA II.
Balancer PN 9790839 is for engine codes WI, XN, (Firebird) XP, XS (GTO) . These are RA I codes
PN 9794058 is for engine Codes WU, WY, XT, XW. I believe (not sure) these are RA II codes.
