Silly Question

We’re the 1967 “LeMans” quarter panel letters white in the centers or just chrome? My originals have no remnants of white, but the 67-69 reproductions do.

They were white.
That's a question I've never been able to substantiate.
I have seen both and have never been able to determine if it was a body-color type thing.

Here is an unrestored '67 with no signs of paint within the letters as well

With them painted white you miss some of the detail of the letters making them look flat. Mine when I purchased the car.

I agree, that’s why I’m checking. I’m leaning towards removing the paint.
I had to go look, but mine are original and have no paint.

Never seen a set without paint. Learn something new everyday.

In this photo (at first glance) I see white. When I zoom in I can tell they aren’t painted. Wonder if the average person would even notice when they are on the car?

I'm also curious, my '65 quarter emblems are white and don't look painted by someone but I've never seen white ones even in the parts catalogs they're always black. I like them white but which is correct, do any cars have white ones??

All originals and NOS 65 GTO quarter emblems I‘ve come across, and seen on cars are black.

Same here. The ones on my '65 and '67 are original and are black.
Well are there white ones available or did someone do a real good job painting it?
From the ads I'm seeing on the LeMans, they are either white or chrome/unpainted.....I can't really tell. The GTO emblems '64-'68 were black, though.
The MPC shows only one part number for each 65-68 LeMans letter. 65/66 letters were different from 67 and 67 was slightly different from 68.

I don't believe Pontiac would have the dealers body shop techs paint each individual letter. Too much lost time. Even the 69 GTO fender plate was color coded from the factory so the body techs wouldn't have to paint the lower bar body color.

64-67 rear fender GTO plate was always black lettered. The grill GTO plate was always white lettered.

With that being said, were 65/66 letters chrome and 67/68 white? or vice versa?
But, IMHO, LeMans/Tempest letters were all white.

Baaad; Possibly what you have is the GTO grill plate?

I have both a 66 and 68 LeMans. The letters on the 66 are unpainted and show no signs of ever being painted. The 68 letters are painted white but the car has been repainted and the letters show signs they were redone as well.
Mine had black paint here that wasn't looking good so I polished it off and like it without any.

Baad, your quarter emblems look like a 66 grill badge being white with the black bar

Wouldn't doubt it from the hacks that had the car before me, everything is a little different on the car so I'm keeping them...I like the white better.
So my 65 has black paint on the rear side emblems and white in the rear and grille emblem.

Had it since 1980 and man if I had known back then I would of paid more attention to storing pieces better
