well got my first racing stripe, there’s this place just up the road on RT16 (aka Devils backbone) its just plum full of S turns and hard right and lefts perfect for these GTOs, as I was on my way to the dealer to get the right turn signal and fog light replaced it just stopped raining and the roads were wet I knew this mountain was gonna be fun :D after a few sideways exits I figured I better turn on the T/C and calm down, after a half mile or so I spotted what looked like a mustang up a head and as I was trying to catch him I went into a hard left turn and the wheel turned sharp to the left like I was on ice, so here I go into the gravel and of course the guard rail :willy: it left a dent about 2 and a half feet long and about 1-2 inches deep and about three inches wide in the right qtr panel as well as scraped the hell out of the wheel so with the tire rubbing the sheet metal we limped to the dealer where we got the estimate of $1985.92 so there she sets waiting until the insurance adjuster to look at and the body shop to start to work on her, so im going to be GTOless until next weekend, I guess sometimes your the windshield sometimes your the bug...I hate being the bug

the shop started to work on her Monday so I should have her back Friday or so, I had a long argument with the adjuster because she didn't want to replace the tire just the wheel and the tire had cuts and splits in the sidewall from rubbing the sheet metal but she finally came around and going to replace it also, plus the body shop is going to guarantee there work for as long as I have the car :cheers

If you were cheap like me you could do what I did, I put a Band-Aid over the scuff where a drunk driver sideswiped me. But that's another story for another time.

 Reading this brouhg back bad memories :(

Really sorry. Hopefully everything works out well enough and as painless as possible. Luckily it was "just" some body work and such which needed to be done. But yeah, I kind of know how you feel :(

Now if that don't beat all! You already paid for the guard rail with your taxes. And now, you just KNOW they won't fix that guard rail. That money's going into the county employee party fund.

Morale of the story... wise man never chase cars on wet mountain roads.

Glad you're OK. Stay safe.
