All set to start up my beloved Goat. Turn the key and nothing happens. :banghead:
I drop the starter and long story short it works fine. Autozone even verified it.....ok, Go the large battery cable on the big terminal on the solenoid and a 2nd wire there as well. On "S" tis another wire. All are where they were and should be.Got panel lights when the key is turned...............
er..............now what? I have no clue where the other 2 wires go.
I am 99.9% certain there is nothing wrong at the starter end.
Not how I planned the day to go :(:jawDrop:
what's my next step?
thanks as always
Tk (sullen but not down)

I started undoing the harness and finally put a hard ground on the starter (laying on the floor and it turned over) no idea what happened but the starter works and shall fire it up tomorrow.
Sometimes gremlins aren't so evil after all!

During my days as a Triple A tow truck driver, there were 3 main reasons for a no start GM product when the lights were working...one or both of the battery cables was bad, or the connections at the terminals were loose, OR the solenoid was bad. I would ask the driver to sit in the car and turn the key to the Start position. I'd wiggle the cables and if that or a loose connection was the problem, you would get the starter to engage. If that didn't work, then I would get out the hammer. Again the driver would hold the key over in the Start position and I would crawl under the car and whack the starter with the hammer. That usually would do it. I would have to explain that it would likely occur again in the morning, so they should park the car where the same procedure could be done.

Just so we are clear, when you said you put a hard ground on the starter and it turned over, you are talking about the engine right? and not just the starter motor? If not have you tried to turn the engine over by hand to see if it does indeed turn over? Just asking here, because this is still the engine that you have just got done rebuilding correct? I want to cover all the bases here.
