My Goat is an automatic.
On the tach there's an adjustable red pointer and the yellow one registers RPM
:confused
what's the deal?

The adjustable needle is there for giggles. Technically it's a movable redline indicator. Can be used for shift points for mpg.

Correct. It's there to set your shift point RPM so that you can tell at a glance when the needles meet. Mine is set at 6k on the '65.....when I used to race the car, I never had time to look at the tach, though....just shifted when the valves floated. You could set it at 3200-3500 and use that shift point to save fuel.....
