So I will be taking my GTO to the drag strip. But I'm not sure how much stuff I want to do to it because some were I read if you go 11.99 or faster you must put a roll bar in. Is this true? I definitely don't want a roll bar. I figure that the car has more then enough power, so maybe all I need to do is work on getting it to the ground. Anyone know the rules?

Most tracks are 11.49. HOWEVER, the NHRA/IHRA rules are MINIMUM requirements only. An individual track can choose to implement any further rules that they feel make cars and drivers more safe. Most of the smaller tracks will unfortunaley go the other way.

If this is your first time at the track, I wouldn't worry about breaking 11.xx barriers, especially if you're on street tires. No matter how much power you have. It takes alot of skill and practice to run that fast. It's not as easy as it looks!
