July 3rd was track day. I came up to Pa to see Family and my brother and I went to the track yesterday. He took his 2009 Impala SS and I took the Z06.

His Impala runs real consistant 14.4-14.5. It's bone stock and that suprised the heck out of me. I was expecting him to run a high 14 with it. He ran with a couple Mustang GT's and his car is quicker than a 99-04 GT auto and runs with the sticks he encountered. He ran a LT1 Camaro and beat it at the light. The LT1 ran 14.37 to my brothers 14.45, but my brother cut a .007 light and the Camaro cut a .35x light.

The Z06 really likes the cool dry air up here. Cool being relative. It was mid to upper 80's with low humidity. I pretty consistantly ran 11.9 to 12.1 on the street tires.

I ran a guy with an 03 Cobra 3 times. He had a pulley, an intake and a tune and we were so close it wasn't funny. I won the last race for a best of the 3 races, but the times were 12.060 for me and 12.093 for him with me cutting a .055 light and him cutting a .067 light. He was just slightly faster through the 1/8 every time.

I also saw a 2011 5.0 Mustang running high 12's. I think he had an intake and that was it. From what the guy with the Cobra said the new 5.0 doesn't have many cheap mods that can be done to it. They have headers and a CAI from the factory and they are pretty efficient.

I also ran an V-10 M5. The guy had a bit of work done to it and it was a good run. The Z06 got the win by almost 2 tenths.

Then we went to Orrville Ohio and watched a friend of his race his sprint car.

Fun day!!

The new Mustang 5.0 is pretty sick. But I bet mods are limited. considering the new VVT or whatever, cams will be insanely expensive(4x cams, all timing adjusted) and a pain to install I imagine. From what Ive seen the suspension is pretty suitable. Just seems like it would take a lot to go a little way with it, almost like the bolt-ons are maxed out besides FI or n2o. Doubtful to see any form of stroker. 3600lbs isnt too heavy for what it is either.

stickies put a new one in 12.3 range in 'Mustang and Fast Ford' magazine.

"it would be engineered to withstand forced induction and to package EcoBoost fuel injectors in the future. " about the new 5.0 'Coyote' engine. "So, while 90 percent of Ford engines will boast boost by 2013"
new GT500? a turbo v8 mustang maybe???

Very nice! What were the trap speeds of you, the Cobra and the M5. Hell, all of them?

Cobra and I were trapping high 118's. I think the M5 was in the 117-118 range, but I don't remember for certain. The Cobra and I were almost identical in speed time and our reactions were within a hundreth so we had some great racing. My brother was trapping high 101's with a 103.02. I remember that because with that speed I know he has 13's in the car with some traction. He was on his stock tires with 28,000 miles on them and they just aren't the best drag racing tires either.
