Going to the track this weekend. will be about 65-70 and sunny, almost perfect conditions, nice cool air, with enough sunlight to warm the black top.

ive got regular street tires. so, going to be a challenge to stop spinning.
aiming for a [email protected] or better, which i think is easily reasonable.

anyone have some tips for launching on street tires @ track? never taken this one to the track and im sure its diff than my camaro being IRS.

ill let you guys know my times and hopefully have some video.

I say make sure your engine is as cool as possible so your intake temps will be low and shoot for no wheelspin and i bet you will run at least a 12.8. I held mine at about 1400rpm and launched a little over half throttle and pinned it to the floor right about when i was half past the tree and got a 2.004 60'(zero spinning, i could have pushed it a little harder) and a 13.23 1/[email protected] and my car is an automatic pretty much stock other than a predator tune and probably around 320-340rwhp?? and my mph was a little low so i probably could have gotten a better 60' and mph if i didnt baby it as much off the line.

yea i've gotten pretty decent at launching my camaro but its got a solid axle, just not sure how the IRS is going to do on the track in the goat.
the air should be actually quite chilly, little cooler than i thought, around the 50's when i race, mayb 60s. so i'm just going to pop the hood and bring a wire to bypass my relay to leave fans on. heat shouldnt be much of a problem.
theyve also got some 100 octane i'm gonna mix in about 2gal on a 1/2 tank, i kno too much can damage o2 sens.

yeah you dont want any timing to be pulled. When i jumped my relay(s) i had to jump the slow and the medium speed relays to get the fan to come on. It wouldnt come on with just the first(slowspeed) relay jumped, I guess it had something to do with the car already being up to temperature or something because the car was pretty warm after the 70 mile drive to the track. So make sure you make up at least two jumpers just in case.
If you spin and have trouble with wheelhop you could try some drag bags they should help keep the tires planted. I personally didnt have any trouble with wheelhop because i pedaled it off the line.

well here's the results. and btw, turns out i never turned off my trac control... between cranking the car 400 times i forgot. explains why i couldnt get a powerful launch....
track was pretty well prep'd and the air temp was about 75, not sure track temp.

well all in all, i was definatly asleep at the light, thought i was going on the last yellow but i was afraid to red light too much..gotta work on that. and with that freakin traction control i forgot to turn off i couldnt get a 60' worth a sht.
if i had at least taken the t/c off i'm sure i would have been in the high 12s. ohwell live and learn.
anyone selling a driver mod?:D

I go to coastal frequently-
as stated, your 60' times are pretty good for street tires...
turn off t/c and you will consistently be trapping 108-110 and a couple tenths faster...

my best run @coastal with LPE intake, corsa cat back and a tune...

I think i might have seen you out there on a friday night before the winter?

i was hanging out with a couple guys from SIK, a carclub based up in morehead sunday, some fast ls1s, few of them were just a couple 10ths and 2-3mph behind me.

but yea, the t/c was def slowing me down, it was really hurting my 60' cuz i could feel it bogging me down each time i just kept forgetting to turn it off.
and that freakin rev limiter. i would just stretch 3rd gear all the way but, as i did the first run i hit the limiter, so im forced to get 4th.

this next time around ill hopefully have some new tires, i have some triangle brand garbage discount tires on there now from the previous owner. and i have better feel for the car and will remember my t/c...
so hope my numbers will be a .200-.300r/t with a 1.95-1.99 60' and [email protected] if not better, the car can do it for sure, just a matter of me getting the feel down.

Def work on that driver mod :cheers. I hope no GTO haters see your times....that is the kind of stuff they use to discredit our cars. Your Goat should be a consistent high 12's car at 110+

Yeah, sounds good. I am in Gainesville and there is a track less than 20 minutes from my house. I will go to the track aytime
