Looks like a mis-fitting reproduction part. Par for the course. Here's my original....been on the car since 1965.
The one I got from John at Pontiac tri power worked perfectlyI just received my 9779969 throttle bracket for my 1966 tri-power. but the bracket does not fit flush with the boss on the intake. Any idea what I am missing? Same bracket Pontiac Tri View attachment 165950 -Power sells for 65-66.
Yeah the one i got from Pontiac tripower fit like a glove too.The one I got from John at Pontiac tri power worked perfectly

The leg that hits the intake has a bent foot. Cut it down and no way to mount the bracket with both bolts. I was going to suggest a spacer under the top mount, but I totaled a GTO once using a rigged throttle bracket, so my recommendation is to return the defective part and get a refund and use a factory or quality part. The longer we 'make do' with crappy parts, the longer they will foist them on us.Hmmm. A lot of pictures, but no help.
What if you cut the flat "leg" down that looks like it is hitting the intake" I would think that will allow the bracket to drop down flat. Just trim a little at a time until it seats.
If I am seeing it wrong, then buy a different one, but looks like that is your fix.

Cut and weld. Cheaper than sending it back or buying a new one. Then paint it.The leg that hits the intake has a bent foot. Cut it down and no way to mount the bracket with both bolts. In Line TubeYeah the one i got from Pontiac tripower fit like a glove too.
to the OP - where did you get this from?
Then there is no incentive for the manufacturer to clean up its act. My vote is send it back for a refund. Don't enable and promote sub-standard crap.Cut and weld. Cheaper than sending it back or buying a new one. Then paint it.
Well, much of the products we seem to get repopped are not as factory and sub-standard. I guess I expect parts that don't fit because they are not factory and I just modify to fit rather than go through what I see as a hassle, shipping back on my dime, refunding my purchase, using up my time and then going through the re-order process and waiting - when a nip here, tuck there, and bend/fold/weld does the trick. I am OK with day-2 stuff as I can fabricate and I am not restoring. Then there is no incentive for the manufacturer to clean up its act. My vote is send it back for a refund. My thought was that they only do a run every so often of this part. What maybe 100 and they probably sit around on shelves for years. So is returning it to get the same crappy piece back. The inline tube picture of the part is definitely a cheaper part than what is on pontiactripower.com put that was taken in 2009. That might be all that is out there now. Then there is no incentive for the manufacturer to clean up its act. My vote is send it back for a refund. Don't enable and promote sub-standard crap.
But who do you go after? The middle man selling it. The company that paid to have them made. Or the third world company making them? If any are still in business.I wrecked my first GTO in part due to a defective tripower throttle bracket. My carbs stuck wide open and it ended badly. That was over 40 years ago. 'Crap' for throttle linkage is in no way acceptable to me. Nor will it ever be.
Ah-ha! Another repro part that is like factory, but not quite. Typical of many repop parts and their fit. I often wonder if this is done on purpose so as not to infringe on the original ownership "rights" and trademark/patents. If it is exact, then you would have to get permission and maybe even pay a royalty. Make it a little different from the original so it is not an original copy, then you don't have to worry about the legal stuff.Well finally figured out what the problem is with the throttle bracket not fitting correctly. The 1966 aluminum tri-power reproduction manifold was cast with a flaw. The boss for the 5/16 bracket bolt was accidentally cast to short. Thanks John from Pontiac Tri-Power for pointing that out.
