I noticed the driver's side twilight was out so I picked up a new 1157 bulb...unscrewed the two philips head screws, popped out the twilight housing and then twisted the socket to removed it from the housing...it didn't want to come out.

I was able to persuade it a little help from a blade screwdriver...easily replaced the bulb that had blown and tried to twist the socket with the bulb back into the housing...no can do...

I understand you have to line up the right side tabs on the socket with the right sized slot in the housing but it does NOT want to go in...nor does trying to push it to get it started...

...anyone know what I am doing wrong or have any tricks or tips for re attaching the socket to the housing???

After seeing this, just for sh!ts and grins I went out and checked mine. I unscrewed the two screws, pulled it off the two tabs and it twisted right out and then back in. I don't know what to say........

HP11...thanks for your response...my passenger side worked as it should but...

took it to the local garage...they saw it clearly had warped from heat (melted)...I didn't notice as the plastic was not discolored...a little more reaming and it fit...however...I still have a problem as the bulb is much brighter now than the passenger side and yes, I exchanged that bulb for a new one too...with no issue with that socket coming out of the housing...

it looks as if the brake light is on for the driver's side and I bet that's what happened that overloaded the bulb...I imagine that I'll need to replace the socket itself and check the wiring to ensure it isn't that...thanks for the responses guys...

well the issue was just the new Sylvania bulb...defective...I put in another bulb and both sides are the same level of illumination...
