I have a customer that has what he says is a 66 Lemans. When I first say the car 8 years ago it was a complete car and ran and drove. A few years ago he sent it off to get it redone. The car was stripped down and is now in primer, nothing was put back on the car after it was primered because he had a hard time getting it back and was just happy to get it back. Interior was sent to get reappolstered and may or may not be available. It is missing parts and I may or may not beable to get them. It does have all the GTO badges inside and out. Not sure on motor size but I think he said it was a 386? not sure but he said not original motor. I do know it is missing both bumpers, grill, cowl and no seats. All other trim pieces seem to be there. He has no idea how much its worth and niether do I he wants me to make an offer. Any adivice would be greatly appreciated. This will be my first car to rebuild and very excited! Pics arenot great but it's what I got.

hard to say. probably a 326 motor, is frame solid? how are floors and quarters? You will be able to get the parts you need. I would say its worth $2k to $3k. just my opinion. theres a lot of people looking for solid leman or tempest to clone

Off the top of my head I would say somewhere between $1500 and $2500, the car is missing some hard to find parts, I would use this car as a parts car to restore a true 66 GTO that was wrecked or has extensive rust issues. Most of the metal seems to be in good condition.

Missing trim is not just expensive but hard to find. Car looks solid though....

I agree on anywhere from $1500 to $4000 depending on what is really there, motor turns over freely and has title.

Welcome to the forum. Had to zoom in on the air cleaner, looked like a rat using it as a dinner plate. Honestly if they did not use epoxy primer I would probably sand it off to see what surprises lay underneath.

It's a LeMans, you can tell by the tail lights and trim, has the GTO hood though. Got mine in similar condition only with original paint under the epoxy and and no rust through on any body panels, seized 326 motor and baked interior and gave 2,500 for it. Be aware the your gonna be looking at around 20K+ to restore it if you can do most of the work yourself.

If that trim plate on the firewall is stamped 66-23717, it is a 66 Lemans.

From your description and the photos, I would not pay over $2000, and that assumes the frame, floors and undercarriage are clean and have minimal rust.

It's a LeMans; well restored, it might be worth $20,000. It's going to cost much more than that to complete the car, so I think you're looking at a "resto-mod" car. In that case, you might get a lot more for the finished vehicle, but you will also put a lot in it.

I assume that's a 326 engine under the hood. If it's a 389, I would pay a little more.

I'm sure others will chime in with other opinions!

Use this site to see what the "maximum" market values might be, if the car was being sold by a dealer. Note: Low Retail assumes a running, driving car in need or TLC. This car would be worth less than half of the Low Retail amount, in my opinion.

best I can tell not much rust at all. I checked all floor pans and trunk and they are perfect. As far as the air cleaner thats a wonderfull mud dobber nest! I do expect to have to redo the body work as it does not look like top notch work. I do believe the car istaight and rust free as I saw it before he sent it off to the body shop and it looked good then just tired. I was planning on offering $2000 and hope that I can get the interior from the upholstery shop he took it to. I'm ready for the restore as I have been wanting to do one for years now, just tired of talking about and ready to get to it. Just wanted to make sure to make a deal that was good for us both.

$1500-$2500 in my neck of the woods (CA). Worth that as a parts car, if rust free. Too bad, it was a factory AC car that was nicely optioned.

Basically the interior came out and went to the upolstery shop and the car went to a bodyshop for paint. It was one of those deals were someone owed him and he was paying the debt by painting the car, that was 5 years ago. After 2 years he just went and got it from the guy as he stopped working on it. Then into the hay barn where it has been collecting the sweet layer of dust you now see. I've tried to buy it in the past but hefinally knows he is never going to finish it and agreed to sell it. Not intersted in a show car just have loved the body style since the movie XXX with Vin Deisel. Hoping for motor, suspension and a decent paint job and then just enjoy it! Plan on doing everything myself along with my 2 boys.

It's worth saving. The price goes way down when they're torn apart and scattered. As a running driving car, it would be 6k. Now, you're looking at much less to purchase it. But be careful: bucket seat cores alone for the front can run $500 and up, and replacing missing trim, etc., is expensive. If you're out to have fun and not do a show car, you will probably be fine. My hat's off to you for at least trying to save the car....it IS a great body style, and not seen often these days.
