Went back to the track last night...second time since major rebuild and first time on Mickeys. Still no race tune (maybe next week???). Lots of mustangs, cameros etc but not a single GTO to line up with. Car ran 10.982 @ 125.67 on the street tune. Car beat up on every mustang and F body out there including a GT500 that was about 2 seconds slower.

Friend took some video but left before the 10 second pass. Couple of videos anyway.

A very aspiring run and I would love to feel that kind of boost.

I have a hard time with V8's and turbo's too. I'm stuck in the traditionalist mode when it comes to muscle cars. I prefer not to hear the whistle, just a deep growl of engine power.
But oh boy, a quarter under 11 seconds is awesome.

Thanks for the support fellas. Trying to get race tune this week...then up the boost a lot. There are actually a few GTOs running in the low 11s and high 10s in this area. Not sure what the mods are, maybe FI? So this mustang would definitely have a contest if one of those turned up. I'm lighter but I don't have the glorious LS1 engine.

Awesome times. What were your 60ft's? Sounded like in the 11.03 vid you spun pretty good off the launch.

60 foot times

It was my mechanic Lance doing the driving. He is a veteran drag racer and I need him to feel the car under stress. This is his second time at the wheel. He is confident that with the race tune at about 20 lbs boost on C16, car will get into the low 10s. You can tell from the time pattern of these last five runs, how consistent this guy is.

11.144 @ 120.74, 1.643 60ft
11.196 @ 119.30, 1.569 60ft
11.038 @ 126.00, 1.644 60ft
11.081 @ 122.97, 1.612 60ft
10.982 @ 125.67, 1.638 60ft

If you don't mind me asking what is your full mod list?

My buddy is turboing a fully built 2001 GT and hes expecting to see 800hp and I told him he's crazy.

Unlike your car his is still SOHC and stock displacement.

His mods are:
- Turbonetics GTK 1000 & IC
- Patriot Stage 2 heads (I was against this choice)
- Crower custom cams meant for a S/C (his old setup was a 2.2 KB)
- Built bottom end Cobra crank, HD rods, lower compression pistons (8.7?)
- Full return fuel system

And of course all of the associated bolt-on's and upgrades needed.

A very reputable shop in the area has him thinking 28psi will be ok on a E85 tune and will be around 800hp.

I just don't see it happening do you?

Main stuff.

Powerhouse single custom 76mm turbo
FB Performance 4r70w automatic transmission with full manual valve body and transbrake
MMR 5L stroker 950 block
MMR stage II heads & cams
Currie 9 inch rear, trutrac diff
GT500 dual pumps
Two single KB boost a pumps
KB boost a spark
60 lb fuel injectors
Upgraded fuel lines & rails
Battery relocated to trunk
15 inch Bogarts and Hoosiers slicks (not tried yet)
plenty of suspension mods
safety mods to run in the 10s (need many more for 9s)

Not a mod but recent necessary accessory. Sooner or later something will break. It's inevitable.
open car trailer with winch

The 76 turbo can put 950-1000 hp at 25+ lbs of boost. The block, transmission, rearend have been built up to handle that hp. It's the fuel system that is the weak link...at least in my car. Car is scheduled for race tunes this weekend and we anticipate 650-720 rear wheel hp/torque if fuel delivery cooperates with C16 at about 20 lbs boost. Need larger injectors to get to the higher boost levels. Tried 95 pounder a month ago and couldn't get them working. The hard part is getting the larger injectors flowing well WOT and at far more modest street levels. Car has very limited street use but still needs to be streetable.
