Being a cross breed, got rid of my '02 SS Camaro for my GTO.........

Fbod's suffer from same chronic problem as "us" = No Traction

It would be close, depending on driver's skill level

all i had on my SS was SLP dual dual exhaust, (not true dual) Clear MTI lid, K&N Filter, did a little dremeling to get more air in, and had a exhaust cut out with elec. power plate.

i was in the high 12's on street tires

stock SS vs stock GTO, is going to come down to the driver

02 SS rated at 325, late 02's could get 345 hp (they added SLP lid)
(those LS1's have different cam and valve train components than our GTO's)

ALL LS1's are under rated.

SS has Borg-Warner 6 speed, GTO's Tremec
SS has Drexel Torsen 3:43 solid axle, GTO's 3:46 Dana independent
SS weight slightly less (don't have, sorry)
SS has slightly wider stock tires, still won't hook, GTO has more tire hop, though.

FYI, Tremec and Dana are joint ventures that purchased Borg-Warner in 1997. Not really a difference in trannys as the Tremec in the GTO is just current. The SS weighs roughly 300lbs less from what I can remember. I know that shortly after the LS1 WS6 cars came out, I saw a lot running ~13.7 at the track but a lot has changed since then.
