So we went down to the an 1/8 mile track the other day. First time ive been. It was terrible. Best time i ran ( with a stock 06 m6) was like 9.32. and it was right at 80mph. Reaction times were good for being first time, but even a 1999 cobra (with x-pipe and catback exhaust, and some bigger gear in the rear) ran 9.1's. It was really hott though, but what does everyone usaully do at the track ( were do u drop it, how much throttle on the launch and stuff like that) so maybe i can get into the 8's next time..... Thanks

get the tires super sticky... and ride clutch just right, floor it as soon as it is fully engaged. fyi I drive a 300ZX not a GTO, so my technique will be different, and i know from my time on the forums here, that the GTO is one of the most difficult vehicles to launch, but in any case, practice makes perfect!... go out somewhere and just practice the launch... or get a good day down at the strip with low traffic so you can just do it over and over..
also, another good tip: Record yourself,, its interesting to watch yourself drive in 3rd person, you can take notes and pic out your mistakes.. and work on those the most.
