Looking on line for a convertible top pump motor for my 65 GTO and not having one with this project i need to purchase one. I am leery of cheap Chinese knock offs but did come across a US company that remanufactures convertible top pumps. The company is LARES Mfg. been around since 1986. any ideas about this company or is there a brand other than the Chinese knockoffs that anyone has had good luck with? Thanks Mike

The one NPD lists is from a Kentucky-based company, though you'd have to check and see if it's made in the US. You will need an adapter for the original harness that they also sell.
I can't offer any personal experience purchasing a replacement, so I'm just sharing this and bumping your thread.

thanks for heads up I will check on it. Dont know about adaptor as the project has already replaced the entire wiring harness so hopefully they will fit but good to know about adaptor if needed.

My experience with the original pumps is that brake fluid used at that time caused impeller lock up due to moisture gathering. I've rebuilt a few of them, and all they needed was the impeller freed and cleaned and the armature and brushes cleaned. Any new or reman electrical part generally will either fail right off or fail years and years later. So I would be comfortable with a 90 day warranty, personally. I use ATF in my convertibles. I last rebuilt the pump on my '67 in 1996 and it's still going strong. Rebuilt the '66 pump last year and it's still waiting for me to install it.
Rick, thanks for chiming in!
