I have a mostly original ‘69 Judge with what appears to be its original Hurst 4 speed shifter assy, rod and T-handle. My GTO was built right around 22-23 Feb of 1969, and is not a pattern car. The shifter handle shows some moderate wear as one would normally expect after 52 years and just over 80k on the clock. My question is…the “4” is closed as opposed to so many images of other Judges with open “4” on the handle. All of the other indicators of it being original seem to match such as lettering size and placement, “H” pattern symmetry. Does anyone have any information as to how many GTO Judge cars have the closed “4”? Was Hurst using up older inventory before switching to the open 4 design? Did Hurst realize the closed 4 was too problematic after they were cast? Looking to solve some unusual questions about my car. Thanks for any info everyone!
